150 tons of saffron exported from Razavi Khorasan Province

Talking to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Hashem Naqibi, who is an official with the province’s Agricultural Jihad Organization said the precious spice was mainly exported to Germany, UK, France, Syria, Spain and the Persian Gulf littoral states.

Some 84,000 hectares in the northeastern province were under the cultivation of Crocus Sativus flower during the period, which yielded 280 tons of saffron, he added.

Naqibi stressed that last year 81,000 hectares of the region were under the cultivation of saffron, which yielded 256 tons of saffron.
