Landmine blast injures 4 in SE Iran

Members of a family who were on excursion in Fath ol-Mobin drove over the device and were injured by the impact of the blast, the town's governor Jamil Mousavi told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

The injured people were transported to hospital, head of the Shush emergency center Ali Moghadamian said.

All four members of the family are in good health conditions, he added.

During the war imposed by Iraq on Iran, 16 million landmines were planted in over 4,200,000 hectare of lands in the Iranian provinces bordering Iraq by the army of the former Ba'athist regime.

Despite the fact that landmine areas have been cleared, explosions of mines and other explosive devices remaining from the war often cause death and injuries.
