Mohammad Ali Najafi and Anna Maria Anders, during their meeting agreed to hoist the flags of both countries in the Polish Cemetery in Tehran, erect statue of famous Polish Composer Frédéric François Chopin in Tehran, and putting up the statue of one of the Iranian famous figures in Warsaw.

Najafi and Anders also agreed on establishing a direct flight between Tehran and Warsaw.

Deeply rooted historical and cultural affinities between the two countries help bolster political and economic relations and cooperation between the two countries, they said.

They also expressed hope to witness further expansion of relations and cooperation between the two countries.

In 1942 some 121,000 polish refuges sought shelter in Iran which is regarded as a bright spot in the history of bilateral ties between the two nations, Najafi said.

Tehran's municipality intends to help maintain and reconstruct the cemetery located in Doulab district, southeast of Tehran, he said.

Anna Maria Anders, for her part said she had visited Tehran two times and underlined that whatever she had heard from her parents on greatness and kindness of Iranian people was correct.

'I would like to express my gratitude on behalf of the Polish ministry of culture and the families whose beloved ones have been buried in the cemetery as a result of your kindness,' she said.

We mind to hoist the flags of Iran and Poland side by side in the cemetery in a special ceremony to be arranged by Tehran municipality, she said.
