
Çavuşoğlu extended his condolences to his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif over phone following the deadly plane crash, Şafak quoted Turkish Foreign Ministry as saying in a statement.
Turkey is “deeply saddened' by news that 66 people died Sunday when a passenger plane crashed near Isfahan, central Iran,' the statement read.
'Wishing Allah’s mercy on those who lost their lives in the painful crash, Cavusoglu conveyed his condolences to the Iranian people, 'it added.
An Iranian passenger plane belonging to Aseman Airlines hit Dena Mountains, 120 km from Semirom, Isfahan Province, early Sunday morning. The wreckage of the plane has not been found yet, but all 66 people onboard are feared dead in the tragic incident.
A number of heads of states and international figures, by issuing statements, have so far offered their condolences over the tragic accident.
