Iranian MPs Condemn PGCC’s Anti-Hezbollah Statement

In the statement released on Monday, 222 Iranian lawmakers in reaction to the PGCC’s move praised Hezbollah as a symbol of resistance to the occupier and criminal Zionist regime.

“Without Hezbollah, the Zionist regime would have kept southern Lebanon under its occupation, and the regime’s Takfiri allies would have violated Lebanon’s territorial integrity, as they did in Syria,” the Iranian MPs said.

They further hailed Hezbollah as well as the Palestinian Islamic Jihad and Hamas as the shining gems of the Islamic society (Ummah) in the fight against cruel aggression of the Global Arrogance, the US and Israel in particular.

The statement regretted the terror labeling of Hezbollah by the PGCC, and said that such countries as Oman, Kuwait, and even Qatar should not have stood against the Ummah and other Islamic countries by boarding the “sinking ship of Saudi Arabia”.

It is expected of these countries to part company with Saudi Arabia and support Lebanon’s Hezbollah as the symbol of resistance to Israel, it added.

“We, representatives of the great nation of Iran, strongly condemn this blatant affront to Lebanon’s Hezbollah by the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council, and consider it an insult to the Lebanese nation and government,” the lawmakers said in the statement read out in a parliamentary session.

They also expressed their all-out support for Lebanon’s Hezbollah and its courageous leader Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah.

The Arab monarchies of the Persian Gulf on Wednesday declared Hezbollah movement, which has been fighting terrorist groups in Syria and the Israeli occupation, a “terrorist group.”

The six-nation (Persian) Gulf Cooperation Council officially added Hezbollah and all groups affiliated to its so-called list of “terrorist” organizations.

On Thursday, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian said those who declared Hezbollah a terrorist group are damaging the unity and security of Lebanon.

“Referring to Hezbollah, the most influential resistance movement, as a terrorist group, and ignoring the Zionist regime’s crimes is a new mistake that is not in the interest of regional stability and security,” Amir Abdollahian said.
