
First in the history of the two countries’ bilateral ties, the navy fleet visit to Iranian coastlines aims to help consolidate cooperation among Caspian Sea littoral states.
Azeri friendship navy fleet which includes a Stinka G124 warship arrived in Bandar Anzali under Colonel Sobhan Bakirov, deputy commander of Azerbaijan Republic Navy.
Meeting with commander of Iran’s north fleet, paying tribute to Iranian martyrs, talking with governor general of Gilan province and governor of Bandar Anzali and visiting historic and tourism sites in the province are on the agenda of the navy fleet docked in Bandar Anzali.
The visit came in response to Iranian naval fleet’s trip to Azerbaijan to attend World Armies Contest in August.
This is the seventh trip to Iran by the peace and friendship navy fleets from Caspian Sea littoral states, including Russia and Kazakhstan.
Iran’s north fleet have already dispatched five navy fleets to Caspian Sea littoral states with the aim of conveying Iran’s message of peace and friendship to them and help consolidate ties and promote regional sustainable security.
Iran’s navy fleet has so far visited Azerbaijan Republic in August 2016 and October 2017.
