Syrian gov't, nation thwart US, Zionists conspiracies: Senior MP

The senior Iranian lawmaker made the remarks in a meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus on Thursday.

In the meeting, both sides exchanged views on various issues, mainly regional developments.

Boroujerdi also congratulated the recent great victories of the Syrian army in various fronts, and said Syria is now regarded as manifestation of 'resistance' against enemies among countries in the region and future will witness the impact of their significant achievements.

Resistance of the Syrian government will be remained in the history of the region and the world, Boroujerdi said.

Referring to the recent letter sent by Syrian president to Iran's Supreme Leader, he said the letter indicated the depth of affinity between the two countries and the positive role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in recent victories.

Resistance axis in the region has common enemy and this requires continued and regular cooperation between countries of resistance axis, Boroujerdi said.

Given Iran's extensive economic and industrial capabilities, he voiced Iran's readiness to help reconstruct Syria.

Head of the Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi, heading a parliamentary delegation, arrived in Damascus on Tuesday night to confer with that country's high-ranking officials on regional developments.
