Iran, Russia, Turkey plan stabilizing Syria: Russian Deputy FM

The Russian diplomat was talking in a meeting with Syrian Ambassador in Moscow Riad Haddad.

According to the official website of Russian Foreign Ministry, the two sides held a meaningful exchange of opinions on the current military and political situation in Syria. Special attention was given to the creation of and ways to promote the effective functioning of de-escalation zones in the southwest of the country, in Eastern Ghouta (Damascus region), the Homs province and also in Idlib.

The website also writes they emphasized that the process of establishing such zones has already helped to significantly ease tensions, curb terrorist activities and improve the humanitarian situation. In this context, the sides discussed preparations for the sixth round of the International Meeting on Syria in Astana.

Iran, Russia and Turkey in the fourth round of Astana talks on May 5 signed a memorandum of understanding for establishing de-escalation zones in some parts of Syria's Idlib, Homs, Eastern Ghouta, Dara'a, and Quneitra, aimed at de-esclating conflicts.
