US wrestling federation sympathizes with Iran quake victims

“We participated in 2017 Wrestling World Cup held in Kermanshah and Iranian people there respected us a lot and their hospitality created a good memory for us,” read the letter.

“Iran and the US wrestling federations enjoy good cooperation and the American federation is ready to help quake-stricken people.”

Meanwhile, American Olympic athlete Jordan Burroughs, Russian Greco-Roman wrestler Roman Vlasov, Rasul Chunayev from Azerbaijan and Germany’s Frank Staebler expressed condolences in Persian over the sad occasion.

In the meantime, five American senators in a letter to US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson urged US to accelerate relief donations process to quake-stricken people in western Iran.

A 7.3-magnitude earthquake shook the western province of Kermanshah and the regions bordering Iraq on Nov 12. The quake was felt in some neighboring countries as well.

Based on the latest statistics, at least 436 people have been killed and over 10,000 injured in quake-stricken areas in Iran.
