UNESCO: Iran can be symbol of sporting events

UNESCO envoy made the remarks in a meeting with the Iranian Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Masoud Soltanifar on Sunday afternoon.

Iran has made a very good progress in its national sports policies and UNESCO welcomes expansion of cooperation with Iran in this sector, he said.

Following talks with Iranian university instructors and students, we reached a conclusion that the Iranian youth have an independent identity and can play a very good role in the field, he said.

'We can take advantage of youths to transfer cultural heritages as grounds in the field are well-prepared with UNESCO,' he said.

Iran has had a very remarkable progress in Paralympics sporting events which should be highlighted, he said.

The Iranian Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Masoud Soltanifar, for his part, said Iran's policy is based on broadening cooperation with the international community at social and sporting events.

Sound implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), left a very positive impacts on expansion of relations and cooperation between Iran and other countries in the world, he said.

We are determined to broaden scope of cooperation with UNESCO in line with the country's national interests, said the minister.
