Rescue operation underway to find missing climbers in NE Iran

Shahroud Governor Mohammad-Reza Hashemi told the Islamic Republic News Agency on Friday that the climbers were reported missing by local climbing groups.

It's still snowing in the region, the governor said, the bad weather conditions have made it impossible to move near the area where the climbers went missing.

The climbers were reportedly trapped in an unidentified area, but have enough food with them, he said.

The official added that a 30-member group of rescue workers has been dispatched to the area to help find the missing climbers.
