On election day, Iranian flag hoists over Himalaya Lhotse Peak

According to Iran’s Mountaineering Federation, while Ma’ani and Hashemi successfully conquered the Lhotse peak, other three climbers, also Iranians, continued their way towards the summit without oxygen. However, they have not yet reached the Lhotse because of freezing cold and strong wind.

Lhotse is the fourth highest mountain in the world after the Mount Everest. It is located in the border of Tibet (China) and Nepal.

A 12-member Iranian mountaineering team succeeded to conquer Lhotse peak in 2002.

Moreover, Parvaneh Kazemi is also the first Iranian lady who succeeded to conquer Lhotse in 2013. She is also the first woman in the world, who climbed successfully to two peaks of Everest and Lhotse in just one week.

Kazemi is currently climbing Mount Dhaulagiri, 8,167 meters, in Nepal and in case of suitable weather conditions, she will conquer the peak soon.
