Pakistani pilgrims' movement problems on Iranian border solved

Speaking to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Friday, Mohammad Rafiei said that Iran's Foreign Ministry had from the beginning put on agenda solving the movement problems faced by the country's pilgrims heading for Karbala to attend the Arbaeen religious ceremony in Iraq and the problem is now completely resolved.

Pakistani pilgrims go to Iraq via Sistan-Blauchestan province and in the run-up to Arbaeen, many pilgrims intending to visit holy shrines in Karbala took to Taftan border, making the area crowded and creating problems or the officials on the border.

'Iran's Sistan-Baluchestan Province is the only way linking Pakistan to Central Asia, Europe and Iraq,' said the official.

Since the victory of the Islamic Revolution 1979, border of the Iranian eastern province has always been open to the Pakistani pilgrims to travel to Iraq, Rafiei said.

Arbaeen marks the 40th day since martyrdom of Imam Hossein (AS), the third Imam of Shiite Muslims, in the plain of Karbala.

Iran has 900-kilometers common borders with Pakistan via the former's Sistan-Baluchestan Province.
