No evidence on Taliban, Daesh alliance on Iran borders

Answering a question on claims suggesting that in the aftermath of the Mirza Olang Village accident in Afghanistan Daesh and Taliban terrorists created an alliance to target Iranian border areas, General Rezaei said, there is no information on creation of such an alliance.

'Such news is mainly the outcome of internal problems in Afghanistan and Pakistan,' he said.

'We have received no tips on a Taliban-Daesh plan to attack Iranian borders,' the General said.

Iranian border guards are quite prepared to counter any aggressions, he said.

'We are cooperating with border guard commands in Afghanistan and Pakistan,' General Rezaei added.

According to Governor of Sar-e Pol province in Afghanistan Mohammad Zaher Vahdat, late on August 9, Taliban and Daesh groups abducted members of 150 families in Mirza Olang Village.

According to him, so far 52 hostages have been killed by the terrorists.

Afghan defense forces together with popular forces recaptured the area from Taliban and Daesh terrorists during a ten-day operation.
