Iraq still pinning hope on Iran: Political activist

'Starting inter-faith conflicts is a new plot by Daesh (ISIS) terrorists and we pin all our hopes on Iran to nullify them,' said Fatah al-Sheikh during an exclusive interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Saturday.

'Those who created and promoted terrorist groups like Daesh and other extremist groups in the region and Iraq over the past years, now are planning to foment an inter-faith conflict far more dangerous and alarming than the war with Daesh,' al-Sheikh said.

The former Iraqi member of parliament said the United States, Israel and Saudi Arabia triangle is mainly responsible for formation of Daesh and the terrorists in Iraq and region.

'After their failure to provoke Shia-Sunni and Shia-Kurdish wars, now they are planning to start Shia-Shia wars,' he said.

Fortunately, Iran as a key element of the resistance axis and its role in fighting Daesh in Iraq, still remains to be a source of hope for the Iraqi people to stop such conflicts, he added.

Al-Sheikh went on to praise the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Force Commander General Qasem Soleimani, describing him as an obstacle in the way of arrogant powers that are looking to provoke an inter-faith war in Iraq.

He also urged the need for continuing the fight against Daesh terrorists until their complete annihilation, saying the terrorist group should be uprooted.
