Iran, Turkey stress enhancing regional cooperation

'Despite the US support for terrorists, these three countries (Iran, Russia and Turkey) could inflict heavy damages to Daesh (ISIS),' Iran's Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said in a meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım on the sidelines of Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) in Istanbul.

He lauded the close cooperation between Tehran and Ankara to resolve the crisis in Syria and Iraq, and said that 'Iran and Turkey, accompanied by Russia have started good cooperation'.

The official referred to the blockade of Qatar, war in Yemen and developments in Lebanon, and noted that 'all these problems serve the interests of Israel'.

The Iranian speaker called for elevation of bilateral ties in various fields of trade, energy, transit and mining.

In the meantime, the Turkish prime minister, for his part, offered condolences on the occasion of the recent earthquake west of Iran which claimed the lives of 444.

The official called for enhancing Iran-Turkey cooperation in Iraq and Syria as well as in fighting the Kurdistan Workers' Party or PKK terrorist elements.

He welcomed promotion of all-out ties between Tehran and Ankara, including the parliamentary field.
