Iran: Hariri's resignation aims to create tension in Lebanon, region

Qasemi's comments came in a statement issued few hours after Hariri announced his resignation from power in Saudi Arabia with anti-Iran claims in his resignation statement.

'We believe the resistant people of Lebanon will pass behind this stage,' he added.

Qasemi rejected Hariri's claims against Iran as a repetition of false and unfounded anti-Iran accusations by the Zionist regime, the Saudis and the Americans.

'The sudden resignation of Mr. Hariri and its announcement in another country is not only a source of pity and wonder, but also indicates he is playing in a ground where the ill-wishers of the region have designed,' the spokesman said, adding, 'The winner of this ground is not the Arab and Muslim countries, but the Zionist regime that have defined its existence in tension among the Muslim countries across the region.'

'As we near the end of Daesh and the domination of terrorist groups in some regional countries, efforts are needed to calm the atmosphere so as to repair the losses by terrorists backed by the US and its regional allies and reconstruct the countries damaged during the years of war and devastation.'

Iran has always been seeking to maintain peace and stability in the regional countries and has defined its interests in security, stability and economic prosperity of all neighboring and regional countries, Qasemi said, adding that confronting insecurity, instability and extremist and terrorist groups tops Iran's regional foreign policy priorities.

Referring to exemplary relations between Iran and Lebanon, the official said that in his recent remarks, the Lebanese president rejected all accusations about Iran's interference in Lebanon.
