US economic hegemony not acceptable: Italian firm

Filippo Contessi in a recent interview with Netherlands' De Telegraaf newspaper, pointed to the US withdrawal from Iran's nuclear deal and re-imposition of the US sanctions against Iran, and said that what is happening is not acceptable.

The US sanctions against Iran will harm all companies, Contessi said.

In recent years our engagement with Iran had been on the rise more than any other countries and the prospect for furthering our cooperation was promising, he said.

Our cooperation with Iran in 2015 saw a ten percent positive rise, but now with US President Donald Trump in office, our business with the country is declining and even blocked, he added.

It is really frustrating to see how the Italian and European companies are losing as a result of US tendency to maintain its hegemony, the export director of the Genoa-based company said.

Contessi said that the Italian company has not stopped its business with Iran, but warned that doing business has turned to be very difficult.
