Russia sells high-tech planes proposed to Iran

During Maks 2017, in which 40 countries participated, Russia succeeded to sign contracts worth $ 6.7b.

According to the reports, Russia could sell 20 Sokhoi 100 super jets in the five-day fair (July 18 – 23).

16 MC-21 whose commercial flights have not started, were among Russian sales in the biennial show.

Russian had already proposed to sell the two planes to Iran.

Russian Minister of Energy Alexander Novak said a few months ago that Iran was going to buy 12 Sokhoi Super Jets 100 from Russia.

Novak added that Moscow was interested in launching a production line in Iran to produce spare parts and the equipment required for Russian planes.

The MC-21 is a Russian single-aisle twinjet airliner, developed by the Yakovlev Design Bureau and produced by Irkut, both United Aircraft Corporation subsidiaries. The initial design started in 2006 and the plane first flew on May 28, 2017.

The Sukhoi Superjet 100 is a modern fly-by-wire twin-engine regional jet with 108 (all economy) passenger seats. With development initiated in 2000, the airliner was designed and spearheaded by Sukhoi. On 21 April 2011, the Superjet 100 undertook its first commercial passenger flight.
