Iran sends aid convoy to Deir al-Zour

Ahmad al-Hosseini, who is in charge of Aid Supply and Public Assistance Organization ‘Jihad al-Bina’, said on Monday that the shipment comprised of 20 trucks carrying foodstuff, medicine, flour and clothing with a total weight of 1,000 tons.

The aid supplies will be dispatched via land to be distributed among the needy, he said.

He further noted that this was not the first Iranian consignment to the Syrian nation and it will not be the last.

The official also said that helping the oppressed across the world is at the center of Iran’s attention and it will continue aid supplies.

Syrian Army and resistance movement broke three-year siege on the city on September 5.

Deir al-Zour is the largest city in eastern Syria. It is located 450 km to the northeast of the capital Damascus on the shores of the Euphrates River.
