Iran media needs innovation to survive in today's world

Reza Qorbanpour Ganji, senior editor in 'TIMA' Photo Broadcasting based in the UK made the remarks in his lecture on the sidelines of the 23rd Press Exhibition which is underway at Imam Khomeini Mosalla (grand mosque) in Tehran.

He said that the official and semi-official media of Iran should merge with each other and make big companies which are active in production of various news materials, including printed news, photo and multimedia.

The official and semi-official media has a duty to use the best technologies, story-telling techniques and distribution ways to remain main source of news and photo.

Media in Iran unfortunately has not been elevated to become an industry to act professionally as a market, he added.

Ganji referred to the emergence of digital media and its effect on official and semi-official media, and said that mainstream media as major source of true news should be supported.

He called for merging the small news agencies into bigger ones in order to make them powerful enough to fight the influence of cyber media.
