Iran corner to be set up at Pakistan’s Islamia College University

The development took place during a visit of Director of Iran Cultural Center (Khana Farhang) Abbas Famuri to the university.

In a meeting with Vice Chancellor Islamia College University, Dr. Habib Ahmed, the Iranian diplomat discussed prospects of cooperation on higher educating between Iran and Pakistan.

Holding Persian language classes at the university also came under discussion.

Dr. Habib Ahmed, on the occasion emphasized the need for learning the Persian language in Pakistan which remained the language of official works, arts, culture, spirituality, research, teaching and education in the Indian sub-continent.

The scholar added Iran and Pakistan enjoy deep-rooted ties and there are many possibilities of promotion of bilateral relationship in higher education.

He also expressed his desire for signing a memorandum of understanding for cooperation with Ferdowsi University of Mashhad or any other university in Iran.

The scholar added that cooperation between the scientific communities of the two countries would also play an effective role in deepening the bilateral relations.

Speaking on the occasion, Abbas Famuri said that interaction between the two neighboring countries can be enhanced by exploring common grounds, especially in the fields of science and culture.

Dr Noushad Khan chairman of the faculty of arts and languages of the university was also present in the meeting.
