Austria to run specialized tourism course in Iran

He hailed Iran’s extraordinary opportunities and assets during ‘Damavand 2018 Symposium’ at Niavaran Cultural Complex late Friday, saying that the program is the most ambitious project to be held in the two countries’ friendship year.

Referring to Iran-Austria 500-year history of friendship between the two countries, the envoy said that 175 years lapses since an Austrian mountain climber ascended Damavand mountain.

The two countries’ diplomatic ties date back to 160 years ago, he went on to say.

Describing Iran as something beyond a beautiful and civilized country, Scholz said that tourism greatly contributes to job generation, especially in a country where one million youth enter job market each year.

Iranian and Austrian mountain climbers are to climb Damavand Mountain on July 31 along with ambassadors form European states to convey the message to the world that Europe and Iran fulfill their promises in all fields.

Elsewhere in his speech, he added that Tehran and Vienna are determined to keep their ties, especially preserve achievements such as the JCPOA.

‘Damavand 2018 Symposium’ with a focus on winter sports was held in Niavaran cultural complex late Friday as part of the programs to mark the 175th anniversary of the first Austrian climbing Damavand.

Some 50 Austrian mountain climbers and herbalists are currently in Iran to climb Damavand.
