Ancient Paleolithic monuments identified in southern Iran

The Public Relations Office of the Research Institute of Cultural Heritage and tourism (RICHT) quoted Head of the archeological exploration team in the city of Pasargad and Mashad’s Morghab District Farhad Zareie Kordsholi as saying that about 300 monuments were discovered in Pasargad, 239 in Saadat-Shahr, 180 in Sarpiran village, 150 in Tange Bolaghi, and about 110 in Kouchekak heights during the explorations.

He added that the discovered items dated back to the new Paleolithic age up to the contemporary era.

The area was for the first time identified by Michael Rosenberg while he was working in the plains of Fars and in Eshkaft-e Gavi in Marv Dasht which is neighboring plains of Pasargad, the official added.

Rosenberg is an assistant professor of anthropology at the University of Delaware, western US.
